Fogo Island Inn is our favorite hotel in the world. Founder owner and visionary Zita Cobb who we met on our first visit 10 years ago has created a category of one when it comes to luxury travel.That is luxury through stunning beauty and serenity within a zen-like architectural wonder with extraordinary hospitality focused entirely on ensuring your family or group has a magical stay with ever desire whim or need attended to with genuine warrantThe hotel itself is a gem. Seemingly both looking out into the hypnotic calm of the Atlantic and almost a part of it. The whole team cares for the hotel and grounds with immaculate care and attention to detail.Food cocktails and the memorable shellfish boil in a private shed that seemed to leave permanent smiles on the full group who joined are world class and also anchored in local ingredients from surrounding farms and purveyors. With the help of the exceptional concierge and the rest of the Inns team we also felt a true connection to the local Fogo Island community through wondrous hikes over incredible ocean vistas visits to local farms and gardens marvelous bike rides and even jam-making and pottery sessions with community residents. With stays at luxury hotel chains increasingly feeling homogenous Fogo Island Inn is an entirely unique experience. It is luxury travel with a deep connection to a particular beautiful place and community.Fogo Island Inn is Peerless Luxury Travel.

This is a place that you will not regret going We flew into Gander and the Inn arranged for a driver to pick us up and drive us on the ferry and to the Inn. It was seamless. From the moment you arrive you are treated so well. Each person I interacted with was helpful professional and accommodating. Lovely Sandra in the Tea room who helped arrange our activities was a gem. We enjoyed hiking jam making an architectural tour rooftop hot tubs the cinema and pottery. We also enjoyed using one of their vehicles to go and tour the island on our own one day. We were privileged to have Zita Cobb at the Inn when we were there. She gave an excellent talk. Our food was amazing. The staff is very good at making changes to the listed menu should you have dietary concerns. Everything but alcohol is included in your daily price. There are a couple of restaurants on the island that if you happen to go and eat at them -- they send the bill to the Inn It was great to go out for a day and stop off at Bangbelly for an amazing lunch.If youve been considering going to this Inn I encourage you to take the leap and book the reservation. You will learn so much about the people of Fogo Island and you will truly have had a vacation as you feel relaxed the entire time you are there. No better place to just unwind

Fogo Island is an escape from everyday life and the Fogo Island Inn is the place to escape to. We had three wonderful days there in early June - no icebergs this year but atmospheric foggy weather (which emphasizes the cozy interior of the inn) and one dazzling sunny day where Im sure we could have seen Ireland from Fogo Head (the world is flat - right) if wed had big enough binoculars. The scenery is spectacular the hotel is simply wonderful the food is delicious (lobstercabbage stew for breakfast - yummy) and all ultra local. But the best thing about Fogo Island and the Inn is the people. We made friends when we first walked through the door and it kept on happening during our entire stay. The 3 day minimum is really not enough time to properly absorb the unique atmosphere of this magical place - but its a start. Well be back

We were only able to visit Fogo Island for one day and we did not have the pleasure of staying at the Inn. We did however go on the tour they offer to see and learn about this special property. Blanche who conducted the tour was informative warm and engaging. She had great stories about the Inn and personal stories about her family in relation to the Inn. She even let us know if the Inn has last minute space they will forgo the 3 night minimum It shows the culture of the management by providing tours for people who may not have the financial opportunity to stay at the Inn. Thank you.

This is a rating for the tour of the Inn The lodging here is way out of our price range. Blanche that led the tour was informative and cheerful. Interesting building and artwork. Fantastic location on sloping rocks perched above the sea. The benefits to the community seem worthwhile and it has added numerous jobs and income flow to the island.

Mixed feelings. Me and my friends went there without knowing that the whole hotel was booked. We tried calling before going there to know if theres any room available but no one picked up. After we went inside the lady at the front desk was very nice and polite enough to kindly let us know that the hotel was booked and understood our situation. But as we were about to leave another staff lady at the gate asked us if were staying at the hotel. We said no and as were about to explain our situation and tell her that were leaving she rudely told us get out of hotel. I mean I know we didnt have any reservations and we were about to leave and the lady at the front desk behaved professionally as expected from a 5 star hotel but whats wrong with that front gate staff lady She knew we were leaving yet she had to insult us by rudely telling us to get out

Requested to book a lunch via the hotel companys website. Had it confirmed shortly after.Travelled all the way to this hotel only to find out no lunch to non-hotel guests. Wow okay.Relais & Chteaux should get their act together. Ill never come back.

We stayed here for 4 nights for a wedding celebration. Fogo is a gem that shell shocked us into a haze of comfort beauty and magic without any pretentions or try-hardedness that often comes with luxury hotels. It was just too good. If my stay was any longer Id be a little snail person - super spoiled and unable to functionObviously the design the local handmade furniture and textiles the community involvement and the niche local cuisine reign as standouts...but I will have to say that the service is what really amazed me.1. The bar staff have a special drink for everyone. I was pregnant and catered to significantly and my virgin drink options were delightful. They even caught one of the herbal teas not being so great for pregnancy and stopped me from drinking it. I may as well have been at my grandmas house who happened to own an insane home with staff on the shore. Very sweet and genuine people.2. The waiters not only put up with my husband and Is shenanigans and absurd requests but they fully played into our wickedly annoying humor and perhaps even topped us.3. One of them brought me iceberg ice he personally shot with a gun. That in of itself deserves a 5 star result.4. My 8 year old son and other present children werent simply tolerated as they often are by most hospitality staff but were engaged with and doted on. This is likely a result of local family friendly attitudes and it was refreshing and appreciated. The kids had guides and spent full days scaling cliffs building forts running around and searching for treasure. 4 days of ideal childhood.I could go on. But I have unpacking to do and fond memories to process.We will be back someday. Thank you the people of Fogo inn and surrounding area
